Sveza commissions priority investment project “Novator +52” in the Vologda Region
Sveza Group held an official ceremony to commission the priority investment project “Novator +52” in the Vologda Region. The project worth 6.5 billion rubles increases the total capacity of the mill in Novator up to 200,000 cubic meters of birch plywood annually.
The investment project in Novator was successfully implemented at a running facility. New buildings and structures were built on the mill site, and new production lines were installed: from a log sorting station to a large plywood production area.

The official commissioning ceremony was held on February 1, 2024. The ceremony was attended by Oleg Bocharov, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade, Ivan Sovetnikov, Head of the Federal Forestry Agency, and Mikhail Sylka, Deputy Governor of the Vologda Region.

“Novator +52” was implemented in very challenging and ever-changing circumstances. I would like to thank the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Russian Federal Forestry Agency, the government of the Vologda Region, and, most importantly, the teams who worked on the project at the mill and in the head office. The Novator mill has become Sveza’s third production site that produces all three main sizes of plywood, which is an important milestone of our customer-centered strategy,” said CEO Anatoly Frishman.

The priority investment project “Novator +52” is worth more than 6.5 billion rubles and features modern equipment, advanced process automation, and comfortable workstations for the employees. It increases value-added wood processing capacity in the Vologda Region up to 200,000 cubic meters annually and drives the development of the region. The status of a priority investment project means considerable tax benefits provided by the state. “Novator +52” was put on the list of priority investment projects in 2020. Sveza pays a lot of attention to a meaningful cooperation with the government authorities, participation in industry events, and meetings with potential partners and customers. The company is an active participant of discussions on the forest industry development scenarios and measures of support.
In 2024, Sveza plans to complete the implementation of another important project for the Vologda Region. The company has spent 300 million rubles to reinforce the bank of the river Sukhona, on which the Novator mill sits, to prevent the flooding of the mill site and the nearby residential area in spring.
